How to Get Started with Your Personal Social Media Content Strategy
Given how nasty some people can be on the internet, I was a bit intimidated about writing online and this lead to a sort of creative paralysis. I felt that in order to avoid the online mobs with pitch forks, my writing needed to be similar to how it was in school: grammatically perfect, well-argued, and properly cited.
After studying how some of the best thinkers on twitter operate, I observed that many of them started with a single tweet. That tweet organically would then grow into a twitter thread. That twitter thread would organically grow into a blog post. That blog post organically grew into a series. That series would grow into a video tutorial. That video tutorial became an online course. Knowledge is a tree, it all starts with a seed.
Once I switched to this model, I found it incredibly liberating and empowering. Surround yourself with people engaging in incremental improvement — it’s the fastest way to grow. Writing, coding, teaching — there are all sorts of communities out there. Find one, plug yourself in, and get started.
