Yesterday in the Advanced Track course at the USG Equity Incubator, participants shared how their digital marketing campaigns were going. Last week, they worked on Google Ads and this week they had the opportunity to pick a channel of their choice. Most opted for Meta, LinkedIn, or Tik Tok Ads. We went around the room and shared who got impressions vs clicks vs conversions and for folks who got clicks but no conversions, we reviewed their website.

I asked if anyone wanted to get their website roasted and one participant volunteered. It’s not easy being vulnerable in front of a whole classroom, but the purpose was to give suggestions on how to improve the website to drive up conversions.

One of the first things the classroom noticed was that the products on her website didn’t have product descriptions. The business owner felt a bit overwhelmed and wasn’t sure how to write product descriptions or having the time to do so. Fear not — ChatGPT is here!

We picked a product of hers and gave it the following prompt:
“You are selling lipstick for [business name redacted] beauty products. Target customer: women ages 35 and 55. Write a product description for a Satin lipstick named Missandei (which is a nude color). Tone: super classy, elegant, educated.”
